The Animaniacs franchise is an American media franchise produced under Warner Bros. and Amblin Entertainment, and is commonly associated with executive-producer Steven Spielberg. The franchise includes various television shows as well as video games, print publications, promotional campaigns, soundtrack albums; as well as a mini-series, a short film and a movie.

History

The franchise began in 1993 with the launch of the original Animaniacs on Fox Kids. Following two successful seasons; the series continued on Kids' WB! with additional seasons as well as a spin-off series about Pinky and the Brain. Numerous video games and other related media were released during this time as well.

Following the cancellation of Animaniacs and Pinky and the Brain; as well as the short-lived controversial Pinky, Elmyra and the Brain retool, the franchise came to a halt in the late-1990's. The shows were gradually phased-out on Kids WB's filler-compilation program The Big Cartoonie Show; while the direct-to-video movie Wakko's Wish served as a finale of sorts for the franchise in 1999.

Barring the occasional print-media, video games, reruns, merchandise and home media releases; the Animaniacs brand laid mostly dormant until the highly-successful 2020 Animaniacs reboot for Hulu; which reintroduced the brand to old and new generations of viewers, lasting three seasons up to 2023. The reboot was then followed-by the 2023 mini-series The Brain Teaches World Domination, a collaboration between Hulu and MasterClass.

    • This does not include the episode line-up of The Big Cartoonie Show; as that was a compilation show containing pre-existing episodes of various shows (including then-unaired Elmyra episodes).
