Or should I say... Animaniacs in Concert!

Animaniacs Live! (or recently Animaniacs in Concert) is a concert musical live show that made its first appearance in MomoCon in 2014 and since 2016; Rob Paulsen (the voice of Yakko and Pinky), Randy Rogel (one of the Animaniacs songwriters), Jess Harnell (the voice of Wakko), and Tress MacNeille (the voice of Dot) have toured in various theaters in many states of the USA (and sometimes different parts of the world), performing songs from the original Animaniacs along with occasionally set along cued up clips and a full orchestra.

Description[]

Basically in most shows, only Paulsen and Rogel show up and perform with a piano (sometimes accompanied by Maurice LaMarche (the voice of the Brain) or a few others). Throughout the show, Paulsen and Rogel share behind the scenes secrets about the making of the series. Among the songs will be an updated version of "Yakko's World" by Randy Rogel that includes a new verse to include nations that have been formed since the song's original airing, such as those from the break-up of the Soviet Union. In mid-March 2020 however, the tour was put on hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic as Paulsen and Rogel were originally going to perform in Dublin, Ireland. The show returned to live theaters on August 28, 2021.

Trivia[]

  • The very first Animaniacs Live! show with only Rob Paulsen and Randy Rogel performing is in DragonCon in 2015 shown in this video.
  • A few years earlier before Animaniacs Live! began, there are a few episodes of Paulsen's podcast "Talkin' Toons" where he and Rogel got to perform songs of the show before Warner Bros. Licensing brought the rights for it.
  • At the end of some shows after singing the Animaniacs Theme Song, Paulsen performs the updated verse of "Yakko's World" as an encore.
  • At the beginning of some shows before Paulsen and Rogel arrive on stage, the cartoon “Please Please Pleese Get a Life Foundation” was shown on screen. In the Looped Live version however, the Animaniacs Theme was shown.
  • Occasionally, the song "Yakko's World (along with its updated verse)" served as the final musical number of the show.
  • If Tress MacNeille is not present during "I'm Cute", Paulsen and Rogel sing an excerpt of the song, followed by a video of the original song shown on the big screen.
    • If Harnell and MacNeille are not present during "I'm Mad!", then Rogel sings all of Dot and Wakko's parts. If only Harnell shows up, then Rogel sings all of Dot's parts.
  • On August 15, 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic there was a virtual live show performance live streamed on Looped Live and people at home get online tickets to have a one-on-one meet and greet video call with Paulsen and Rogel afterwards.
  • So far the only orchestras the stars of Animaniacs Live! have performed in their shows with are the following:
    • The Colorado Symphony Orchestra (on September 26, 2014)
    • The La Mirada Symphony Orchestra (on April 15, 2017)
    • The Colorado State University Orchestra (on February 8, 2019)
    • The Sinfonia Gulf Coast Orchestra (on May 17, 2019)
    • The Liberty University Symphony Orchestra (on October 23, 2021)
    • The South Shore Symphony Orchestra (on November 18/19, 2023)
    • They will be set to perform with the Schenectady-Saratoga Symphony Orchestra on February 24, 2024 and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra on March 30, 2024.
  • The 2014 MomoCon live show in Atlanta can be streamed through Facebook and YouTube.
  • In one performance in the Balboa Theatre in San Diego back in July 18, 2019, the music for the live show is not only accompanied by Rogel on the piano, but also with a drummer, a synth orchestral player, and Peter Hastings playing the bass.
  • Sometimes there is a Q&A session after the show where the stars of Animaniacs Live! would take questions from the audience.
