Trivia[]
- The title of this cartoon is a parody of the movie Plan 9 from Outer Space.
- The show Pinky watches in the beginning of the episode, The Z-Files, is a parody of the popular 1990s sci-fi drama series The X-Files.
- The Roswell guard is a caricature of actor Jim Nabors, specifically his portrayal of Gomer Pyle on The Andy Griffith Show.
- He identifies Pinky and the Brain as General Maltese and General Jones, a reference to cartoon writer Michael Maltese and cartoon director Chuck Jones.
- When the mice don their military outfits to infiltrate the government base, Pinky is dressed as General Douglas MacArthur and Brain is dressed as General George S. Patton.
- Marvin the Martian's character theme could be heard when Zalgar first approaches the mice and is about to put on his goggles.
- Items and inhabitants of Area 51:
- Bigfoot
- Elvis Presley - A reference to urban legends claiming that Elvis faked his death and is still alive.
- Jimmy Hoffa - The former Teamsters Union leader who mysteriously disappeared in 1975.
- Gov't Cheese
- Ark of the Covenant
- The cryogenically frozen corpse of Walt Disney - A reference to an urban legend that Disney had himself frozen.
- Bigfoot, Elvis, and Jimmy Hoffa were also previously seen aboard the UFO in the Animaniacs cartoon "Space-Probed."

Production Notes[]
- This episode was originally a scrapped pilot for a Zalgar The Brain-Eater series where Zalgar would hunt for a new brain in every episode, in this case the brain he is hunting for is that of The Brain himself. [1]
- The entire episode had to be restructured to a more Pinky and the Brain-centric story. As a result, much of the dialogue in this episode is ADR and often doesn’t sync with the animation.
- The following line is the one artifact from the original script that was kept intact for the final recording (albeit slightly modified):
- Brain: "This is where the government keeps everything they don't want you to see."
- Pinky's follow-up line was different, however. He was originally going to reply "You mean like Ernest Borgnine from underneath?".
- Ernest Borgnine previously portrayed Brain's father in "The Visit".
