Spell-Bound is the 38th episode of the original Animaniacs. It originally aired on November 10, 1993; and is the first half-hour episode in the franchise to be entirely devoted to Pinky and the Brain.

Plot

In a medieval fantasy world, Brain discovers a spell that can make him ruler of the world. Only issue is the final ingredient, a red dragon's toenail; is destroyed in an accident when trying to set the spell up. Now, Pinky and the Brain must go on a quest to get the last ingredient in order to enact the spell.

• This is the only full Pinky and the Brain half-hour episode before they got their own show in 1995.
• The "Ishtar Box Office Receipts" are present on the shelf with magical ingredients.
• As Pinky and the Brain are traveling to Murky Mountain, they meet up with Witch Hazel who tried to burn them.
• Hansel and Gretel's appearances are based on how they look in the 1954 Chuck Jones short Bewitched Bunny.
• Cameos are made by Slappy (dressed as Little Red Riding Hood), the Goodfeathers (dressed as Robin Hood and his Merry Men), Rita and Runt, and the Warners (who climb down a beanstalk, which would later serve as the subject of another cartoon, and Dot would get a line that isn't the ending chorus; "Timber!").
• The harp that the Warners hold is a caricature of singer Dean Martin who sings a parody of one of his hits, "Everybody Loves Somebody Sometimes".
• A parody of Greensleeves is sung by Pinky.
• Frank Welker is credited for voicing Runt, despite him not having lines or barks in this episode.
• The ending chorus sung by the Warners is performed to the tune of “Greensleeves”.
