Brainy Jack title

Discovering that the best way to take over the world is through pacifism, Pinky and The Brain travel to the Southwest on horseback and create a colony to teach the world the value of peace, love and improvisation.

  • This cartoon is a parody of the 1971 film Billy Jack; where the titular protagonist aids a hippie freedom school.
    • "The Fable of Brainy Jack" also parodies the song "One Tin Soldier," a song which was featured in the Billy Jack film.
  • At the beginning of the episode, the mice try to head to the home of Carly Simon to see if her song was about Brain. The song they refer to is "You're So Vain", which was released in November 1972, and is about a self-absorbed person whom Simon asserts "You're so vain, you probably think this song is about you."
  • Brain initially refers to the group of hippies at the lab as "the cast from Godspell." Godspell is a musical composed by Stephen Schwartz in 1971, which features characters dressed in hippie outfits who sing and act out parables from The Gospel of Matthew.
  • Brainy Jack's fable segues into the ending chorus calling the Brain "Brainy Jack" in the Pinky and the Brain theme.
  • The hippie "Ted" and his news broadcast plans are a parody of Ted Turner and his ambitions for the 24-hour news network CNN.
  • The ending chorus is performed in the style of "The Fable of Brainy Jack."
