Hooray for North Hollywood (Part 2) is the 6th episode of season 5 of the original Animaniacs and the 96th episode overall. It is also the end of the series' only two-parter episode; Hooray for North Hollywood.
Skippy presents an abridged recap of the previous part before the episode begins.
The Warners hobnob with celebrities at a gala event in order to sell their script. After encountering Plotz, whose producer is unable to find a good script to produce, Plotz is shocked and angered to find the Warners there and tries to capture them with Ralph. During a chase sequence, Dot drops the script, which falls inside a meal tray. The producer is served with the script, and is impressed with it. While Plotz evicts the Warners from the Studio Lot, the producer greenlights the movie. Hooray for North Hollywood eventually releases to becoming a critical and commercial success, becoming the #1 movie all over the world and winning various awards. The public eventually embarrases Plotz for rejecting the script, eventually being fired by the Chairman of the Board, therefore becoming a poor man.
Several months later, the Warners, having become tired of having fame and success, decide to save Plotz by buying Warner Bros. using all their money made from the movie and reappointing him as the CEO. They then celebrate and sing a song about New Years, which is revealed afterwards to be the ending of the script for their next movie, "Son of Hooray for North Hollywood" and head to pitch their movie to Plotz.
The movie that Warner Bros. produces instead of Hooray for North Hollywood, Jam-A-Lot, is a parody of both the musical Camelot and the film Space Jam.
Interestingly, a few months after this episode aired, Warner Bros. later released the animated film Quest for Camelot, which would receive mixed to negative reviews and become a box office failure.
Ironically, the Warners themselves would later make cameos in 2021’s Space Jam: A New Legacy.
The scene in which a cheese spaceship destroys the Warner water tower parodies the destruction of the U.S. Bank Tower in Independence Day.
Wakko and Colin parody Billy Bob Thornton's performance in Slingblade in the "sling roll" scene.
Yakko and Dot parody a scene from Fargo.
Yakko parodies the "Show me the money!" scene from Jerry Maguire.
Dot parodies a sequence from The English Patient.
As of this episode, The Warners are officially the owners of Warner Bros.
Celebrity cameos in this episode include Woody Allen, Robert Redford, John Travolta, Michelle Pfeiffer, Clint Eastwood, Sharon Stone, Joel Schumacher, Michael Jordan, parodies of Roger Ebert and Gene Siskel, Ralph Fiennes, David Letterman, Meryl Streep, Cher, Madonna, Edward G. Robinson, James Cagney, Bugs Bunny, Batman, Whoopi Goldberg, Tom Cruise, Joan Rivers, and Steven Spielberg.
As with the first part, this episode's gag credit is another dig at The WB Network.
