Narf Over Troubled Water Title

Plot[]

In the 1960's, Brain concocts a new plan that requires black-and-white television sets and music to hypnotize the people. His computer creates a surefire popular tune with the intention of performing it on The Ed Sullivan Show. He and Pinky become a musical duo; "Brain and Narfunkel" to popularize their song and gain the adoration of the public.

  • Being a 1960s' period-piece, Acme Labs appears in its original design before its 2020 renovation.
  • The ending is a spoof of The Graduate, which featured the music of Simon and Garfunkel. The song that’s parodied is “Mrs. Robinson”.
  • The music at the end is "Scarborough Fair", which is a public domain song covered by Simon and Garfunkel.
  • Maurice LaMarche reprises his Ed Sullivan impression previously used in past episodes such as "The Warners 65th Anniversary Special" from the original Animaniacs and "Brain of the Future" from Pinky and the Brain.
  • The mice previously formed a Simon and Garfunkel-type band in the beginning of the Pinky and the Brain episode "Hoop Schemes," where they performed the song "Lo La Li" (a parody of "The Boxer") as they busk on the city street. Coincidentally, "Hoop Schemes" was also aired under the 25th episode of its' respective series.
