Philip Edward "Phil" Hartman (September 24, 1948 – May 28, 1998) was a comedian, actor, and screenwriter. He was best known for his time on Saturday Night Live and for doing voices on The Simpsons. On Animaniacs, he provided one of his distinct voices to the character of Slam Fondlesome in the episode "Broadcast Nuisance", although the character would later be renamed Dan Anchorman.
On May 28, 1998, Hartman was shot dead by his wife who then shot herself as well.
